- I am Pad Thai, as the name suggest, I am from Thailand. The time I originated from is unclear, but the story told I I became who I am today in Nationalism era of Marshal P. Pibunsongkram who ruled from 1938-1944 (พุทธศักราช ๒๔๘๑ ถึง ๒๔๘๗), since in that era, rice was expensive with war looming over the whole of East Asia… so Chinese style fried noodle was modified and the rest is history. Nowadays, I dare say that my popularity rivals even that of Tom Yum!
