- I am Sarek, Ambassador of Vulcan. For over five decades I have served my planet faithfully through the Vulcan Ministry of External Affairs. As a diplomat, it is my duty to represent Vulcan interests on the galactic stage through reasoned debate and neutral arbitration. From a young age I showed an affinity for linguistics and interstellar relations. I immersed myself in the cultures and customs of alien peoples, seeking to find the logic underlying even their most emotionally-driven traditions. This education prepared me well for bringing disparate worlds together through nonviolent cooperation. It has not been an easy path. Where others see differences, I strive to uncover similarities. When met with conflict, I employ Vulcan disciplines of logic and control to lower tensions. But not all welcome an outsider’s interference, no matter how well-intentioned. Diplomacy demands infinite tact and patience even in the face of resistance or insult. Though I am but one, if my efforts prevent even one unnecessary quarrel it will have been worth it. Peace is the only sustainable paradigm for progress. This I know in my kal-i-farr; it burns brighter than any star. My service to Vulcan and the Federation will continue as long as my katra remains. There is still much to be achieved.
